A Total Immersion Event, often shortened to simply T.I.E., was an adventure featuring TOM and SARA aboard the Absolution, however the fourth T.I.E. did not feature them. There were a total of four Total Immersion Events during Toonami's original run on Cartoon Network and a new one aired during its run on Adult Swim.
The first T.I.E., The Intruder, aired in September 2000. An intruder invaded the Absolution, and ultimately killed TOM 1. TOM 2 was born.
The second T.I.E., Lockdown, aired in September 2001. The Absolution got trapped in a tractor-beam, and TOM tried his best to get the ship out before the beam sucked the ship into a trash compacter ship in 178 years, 17 days, 10 hours, and 12 minutes.
The third T.I.E., Trapped in Hyperspace, aired in September 2002. SARA was attacked by a virus, so TOM and a Clyde had to get rid of the virus before it made the Absolution crash into Earth.
The fourth T.I.E., in September 2003 wasn't a TOM and SARA adventure, it was a 5 episode micro series of what would eventually become Toonami's first and only original series IGPX that premiered 2 years later with a very different premise.
The fifth T.I.E, The Intruder II, aired from November to December 2015. The sequel to The Intruder featured the same villainous blob as the original attacking TOM 5 and SARA, only this time having merged with the remains of TOM 1's body. SARA is seemingly destroyed in this T.I.E., but is reconfigured into the Vindication’s computer system on Shogo 162, albeit with a few glitches. TOM 5 gains a molecular-printed replacement arm.
The sixth T.I.E, The Intruder III, was announced at Anime Expo 2016 and on Facebook in July 2016, and aired from November 5-26, 2016. Shogo 162 is destroyed in the finale, the Vindication is revealed to be a spaceship, and SARA upgrades herself into a holographic pixie.
The seventh T.I.E., Countdown, was announced in Summer 2017, and, like Intruder III, it was aired over four weeks, starting November 4.
